bi polar disorder refers to mood swings which are related with the neurochemicall activity in brain. briefly, there is a neurotrasnmitter chemical which helps to provide the transmission between neurons in our brain. in case of bi polar disorder, this chemical begins not to work out, in other words it becomes less functional to transfer electrical signals in our brain. that is why the mood swings occur. however, the mood swings have 2 side : manic and depressive. the depressive period is longer at some cases, it depends on person to person. it might be genetical, for example, if parents have bi polar disorder, their chidlren are at risk 50%. the suicide risk is %20 at bi polar disorder, so try to convince him to go counselling. the transmission from one mood to another usually follow the same period of time, when the depression period is close the person begins to smoke much, begins to be less talkative, begins to stay alone, fees tired, etc.
it is usually seen at the begining of the 20s both women and men (; your husband’s at 40s so his disorder began at 20s.) it is very rare disorder though, it is seen about 2%-1% in society, as far as i remember.
there are two main mood swings, at manic period, for instance, the person wants to spend more money, his sexual desire increases. i m not sure if it is right to compare with it but similarly, the borderlines have typical extreme behaviours like manic period of bi polars, for example, the borderlines take more risks, such as unprotected sex, driving fast, using too much alchol, and they focus on their own motives at that time without thinkng the result of the behaviours.
you need to convince him to go counselling. it is the most difficult part though. the psychologists usually advises to go to counsellign especially the begning of the manic period.
hope thigns will be better, best wishes.
I hope not.
Any excuse will work for him.
No. Bipolar does not cause those things. Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the body that causes a MOOD disorder, not a personality disorder. (borderline)
Read up on what you can, and don’t let yourself be manipulated.
get gone while you can. i know a few bipolar people they all lie, cheat, and steal, and are abusive.
No, that is not the bipolar disorder … that’s his personality
My ex brother in law, who has a severe bi-polar disorder, lies a lot. I don’t know if he cheats or steals but he makes a lot of really bad choices and blames everyone else. I have a family member who is bi-polar and she doesn’t do any of those things. She is about the same age as your husband and once she found the right medications, doctors and a good therapist, she improved 200%! She used to be very difficult to be around because of her behavior (hard to explain) but she is doing really well now. It’s not going to change with your husband until he gets help and is willing to change the things he keeps making excuses for! Your husband can’t blame being bi-polar on everything "bad" he does. He doesn’t have to lie, cheat or steal because he is bi-polar. Sounds like he needs a lot of professional help.
bipolar disorder is about moods.
lying cheating stealing is about their character
he just wants an excuse thats it leave him
In the manic phase, the person can tend to act impulsively/partake in unpremeditated risky behavior that they normally would not so therefore its possible that cheating and stealing are something that occur when he is in the manic swing of it. BUT it is no excuse to lie/cheat/steal. There are some people who are bipolar but would never cheat or steal, but they would drive their car recklessly, etc.

The more you know, the more you can help yourself and him.
This is not about going back to business the way it was done 25-50 years ago. This is about balance and right now the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.
Hi all, i really know how its to have a problem like this. I have been struggling from it since a few years with the usual ups and downs so i really know to have a problem like this. At some website i found out some members were pretty satisfied about a pill they purchased from the internet and i ordered it when i found those pills at - herbalhealingstore dot com -.
