Should my sister leave her new husband?
Hello everyone. My lil sis has been married for about 8 months now. She is 25 and when they married she packed up and moved to his hometown which is a 3 hour drive from her family and friends. She hasn’t been very happy the past few months. She just found out three weeks ago that she has the STD Trichomoniasis. She thinks he cheated on her obviously.
When we researched Trich online more closely we realized there were some sites that stated you ‘could’ catch Trich from toliet seats and washclothes or towels. They claimed that Trich could live on a damp towel for 45 minutes. We called the CDC and they said Trich can only be contracted through sexual contact and you could NOT get it from toliet seats or towels. I assume the Center for Disease Control knows their stuff better than a health website.
Another problem is that my sis had her first symptoms a week after they were married and before they went on their honeymoon. After exposure to Trichomoniasis it only takes 5 to 28 days to show symptoms. She was having symptoms and thought it was a urinariey tract infection. Poor thing was walking around for months and didn’t know what was wrong with her. She also has no insurance and I think she should be tested for other STD’s. Any thoughts? She wants so badly to believe that he didn’t cheat. I told her that’s impossible. He had to cheat for her to have this. Thanks for any opinions and insight.
Yes, they had sex before marriage. Dated for about 1 and 1/2 years and had sex during that time frame. She never cheated….nor would she.

Well, he’s clearly a dirty SOB. She can do much better, which is not being exposed to some infected excuse of a man in a marriage. She should leave him, quickly! That’s disgusting.
He could have had it before they were married or even before they dated. Did they have sex before the marriage? I would not speculate, but if they did not that could be a possiblity. There are so many variables I would not jump to conclusions unless you know for certain.
Well there are planed parenthood offices all over. Have her go on the internet and see if there is one in her area. It is all free and they will do all the testing for her. I would confront the husband if I were her but have her go get tested first.
sounds like she married an idiot that had a hooker at the bachelor party stupid thing to do but many guys want a last fling and look what happens.It may well have been before they were married to technical wasn’t cheating yet but … well her decision to make.
You’re right; she should be tested. So should he. (If he balks, that should give her a big clue, if only in terms of showing her how important her safety is to him.) There are plenty of low-cost clinics out there for people who need those services. Once her health is taken care of, then she can decide what she wants to do. Be supportive and remind her that she deserves a partner who wants this to work as badly as she does if he’s not cooperative, but ultimately, you have to let her sort this out for herself.
He cheated on her. She needs to stop looking for excuses and just accept the facts. She needs to leave him, he is just nasty. I feel so bad for your sis.
whats it got to do with you, she will stay or leave whatever she wants, i take it she can work out whats been going on herself, leave her to make her own desicions just be there if she decides to leave
