BIG relationship problems (cheating) please help :(?

My Girlfriend and I have been going out for 13 months. I love her very, very much.
I am 19.

We have been going through a ‘rough’ patch, so she asked for a break. Our relationship was to continue, but we would see each other less (for a week or so - however much time she needed). I was OK with this, appreciating that time apart might help.

I went out for a nights drinking with my best friend. It was incredibly busy. I had a few drinks, not so many that I don’t remember anything. I can recount the entire nights events.

A close friend (to both my Gf and myself) is adamant that she saw me kissing another girl when i was out. The story goes "I saw him up against a wall kissing a girl". She and her son ’saw’ me, and are sticking to their story. There is no more detail (I’m told). Apparently there is no chance they could be lying or mistaken.

It took them a week to tell my Gf.

I never cheated on my girlfriend that night, or any night before or since.

I DID spent some time (roughly 15 mins) talking to another close friend (who my Gf also knows). We were leaning against a wall (not leaning together or on her. I leant on my shoulder against the wall, she stood) and we spoke about the problems I was having with my Gf, I even cried. She hugged me a few times, I’m sure as any good friend would. NOTHING untoward happened, it was a chat. Nothing more. I was very very upset. An emotional mood, no doubt encouraged by a few drinks.

The girl who I apparently kissed was also with her boyfriend, who was stood no more than 10 ft away from us for the entire time I spent with her. There are also a good 4-5 people who can vouch for my honesty.

My Gf still cant beleive me. She ‘wants’ to, but can’t. Our relationship is slowly falling apart and i feel that there is nothing I can do anymore to help rebuild it. I am as honest as the day is long and would never do anything to hurt her. She is my best friend.

I love her and feel powerless.
