Why do people assume faithful military spouses are the exception rather than the rule?

I can understand that there are people out there who have given the military wife a bad reputation, but I can’t understand why that would be assumed to be the rule rather than the exception. I have been with my sailor for almost 7 of the 10 years he’s been in and never once even thought about cheating on him. My friends are all very faithful to their husbands as well, and would rather sit around with other (female) friends knitting or watching tv than out at the bar trying to find a man. I have only known of a couple of wives who actually cheated on their husbands during a deployment. How do we break down this stereotype?
