Boyfriend lies about accidental text he sent..signs of cheating? please please help me!?

So me and my boyfriend have been fighting a lot lately and finally last night we made up. This morning he texts me to come over so I told him ill be there in a little bit. I then get a text from him saying hey I forgot I have to help my uncle tow a truck to the other side of town I won’t be back until 5. I then get a text saying I’m sorry babe ii meant to text my cousin that. The thing is I know all of his cousins and all his family so why would he need to lie to them about hanging out with me, and oh yea 5 is the time that I would leave to go to work. So I ask him why he needs to lie and he says that its another cousin and his aunt doesn’t know he has a girlfriend and she’s nosey and why am I getting mad for nothing. So I tell him that he’d feel the same if he got a wrong text lying about hanging out with him. So we get mad once again and stop texting for a while. 3 hours later I receive a text from him saying that the truth is it was his friend that texted him, but that this friend was a girl and she wanted to hang out and that we just stopped fighing and he didn’t want me to get mad. The truth is if he woulda told me the truth in the beginning I woulda never have been mad, but for him to lie to some girl about canceling his plan with her to hang out with me, and then lying to me about who it is I was really pissed off. Now he’s apologizing knowing he blew it and for me to please not go anywhere..is he cheating or is it just me..but should I let him go or what….please help me I’m really torn
