Can a mentally ill spouse not know when he is cheating?
If he goes out of his way to get her roses to make the OW happy on her b-day (especially since he didn’t give me roses for our wedding night nor my b-day), takes his ring off his finger (says he forgot it), spends the night (admits to this but supposedly not spent with her because she wasn’t there at her house when I was taking care of his baby)…. And other signs… And he claims he really did not know this and the other signs was cheating and that he’s that stupid (which I tell him I can’t believe that he’s that stupid that he did not know…). Does he think he can really get away with fooling me, or is he capable of being that mentally ill that he was that ignorant? He is currently taking pills for a mental illness, but he still has his bad days.
He only admitted the portion (that he stayed the night but she wasn’t there) to me after I found out about one of the other OWs through a friend of his what he’d been keeping from me.
But he did have tears in his eyes when he knows how much it still hurts me.
He takes bipolar manic depression meds.

I do think someone can be that delusional as to not know it. Think about it, if he really didn’t want you to know, why would he make it so obvious?

It sounds like you should discuss this behavior with your husband and with a marriage counselor. Even if his behavior is due to mental illness, you have a right as his wife to expect him to be faithful. Only you can decide whether your husband is telling the truth, but if he didn’t tell you himself that his illness is causing him to act unusually, you may just be trying to make yourself feel better about what you already know.
Its hard for us to judge. After all we don’t know what mental disorder he has and do not know him as well as you do. Need a little more information.

you need to kick this clown to the curb, tears or no tears. He may be bipolar, but he is manipulative, and he will keep breaking your heart. Besides if he is fooling around, he will eventually bring home to you a STD, or worse, and then he will try to tell you he got it from the toilet seat..
